Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm and Meadery

“We’ve been making wine since the 1960s so I suppose having a Meadery is not such a quantum leap” said Mike Campbell, as he explained the processes and procedures for making honey wine at his location in Abbotsford. The Campbells have a honey farm and Meadery located on Lefeuvre Road just a short distance south of the Fraser Highway. “Watch for the big red barn” said Mike.
The Campbells have been farming at their present location since 1987 and the farm they operate is almost 8 acres in size. They sell honey of numerous varieties, honey wine, and many other products related to the hive such as cosmetics, healing products and candles. But their other big service to agriculture is bee pollination. Without bees there would not be many other crops readily available to local consumers such as blueberries, raspberries and cranberries. The Campbells also offer educational tours. “We are trying to enhance the environment in each activity we do” commented Mike.
Mike and Judy find, like many other farmers, that “farming is in the blood”. “It promotes a healthy life style – good exercise, good food, and it forces you to pay attention to nature” they said. Both Mike and Judy are active in their church and they like to travel – but finding the time to do much of that is always a problem. Sensitive to the environment, the Campbells recently completed an Environmental Farm Plan for their operation and you can be sure they will be implementing it.
