Welcome to the 2010-2011 edition of the Farm Fresh Reference Guide – the 15th year of operation. Using this Guide and our website at www.bcfarmfresh.com you can find local producers of more than 100 different farm products and services who market what they produce either directly from their farms or at area farmers’ markets. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the Guide and website. Reflect on how important it is to support your local farmers, the people who bring you fresh, wholesome, quality farm products for your families.

We are delighted to have so many new members this year. By having more farms listed in the Guide, we are able to offer consumers even more choices of fresh agricultural products available in this area. As many of you know, the Fraser Valley generates over a billion dollars of revenue annually and farm direct marketers make an important contribution to that revenue. And there is a tremendous range of products grown by farmers in the Valley, as our detailed products index demonstrates.

The producers whose operations are described in this Guide are all members of the Fraser Valley Farm Direct Marketing Association, an organization with 78 members this year. A special thank you is extended to all our many customers and advertisers who support our farmers. I would also like to especially thank those organizations and businesses that help us to distribute our Farm Fresh Guide to consumers. The Guide is available, of course, at all our listed farms, but it is also distributed through 25 stands located at various businesses such as Otter Coop, Minter Country Garden and the Vancouver Public library. Also, the Fraser Valley Library system helps us to distribute Guides through their member libraries as do many other public facilities such as Tourist Bureaus. Most farmers’ markets in the area will have farm fresh guides available and we are present at most major agricultural events from the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair in May right through to the Pacific Agriculture Show usually held in February. We thank them all for their support. And let’s not forget our farmers who work very hard to make local BC farm fresh products available to consumers right here in beautiful BC.
